Based on the quilt reinterpreting an age-old process of sewing, patterning and assemblage, my modern version utilizes silicone, LEDs and zippers. The wiring represents the thread, and is “sewn” in a classic quilting pattern. The zipper allows multiple individual sections to zipped together creating a larger light, akin to quilt patches being sewn together to make a coverlet. The versatile light can be zipped onto wall brackets or placed on a surface, either flat, or zipped together to create a cylinder – like being wrapped in a blanket.
